Cougars Defeat Pennsauken 69-59

On Tuesday night, the Cougars defeated the Pennsauken Indians by a score by 69-59. CHE never trailed in the game, leading 22-9 after one, and 34-17 at half. Jake Gurkin ('12) had 15 points at the half, while Marc Schlessel ('12) had 12 points. With the exception of a couple Pennsauken runs, the game was never in doubt, as East led 53-39 after three, and finished with a 10 point win. Schlessel led the team with 27 points, while Gurkin was close behind with with 23 points.

The Cougars have two more games (@ Winslow Twp 2/2/12 and home to Seneca 2/4/12) before the cutoff for the playoffs. If East wins these two games, they will go into the cutoff with a 15-4 record, hoping to edge out Shawnee for the 3rd seed in the Group IV Playoffs.
