Cougars handily defeat Cherokee, 64-48

On Thursday, the Cougars easily beat an inferior Cherokee team 64-48. In the process, they extended their winning streak to 14 games.
Cherokee stayed tight with the Cougars in the first quarter. The scoring was well-balanced in the first as Chris Santo ('11) led the way with six points. Marc Schlessel ('12), Jake Gurkin ('12) and Dan Melleby ('11) also scored in the quarter to help the Cougars gain the 16-13 lead.

The Cougars began to pull away in the second. Gurkin scored five early points to give the Cougars a six point lead. The Cougars never looked back as Santo and Schlessel led them to a 38-21 half-time lead.

The game was essentially finished by the half as the Cougars cruised to the 64-48 win.

Player of the Game:Schlessel. Schlessel scored 19 points and 10 rebound to help the team in all angles in this victory.
